Podcasts: Locus Top 5

As creative people, we find many ways to escape (or enhance!) our busy wee minds. A popular activity in the Locus studio is to listen to podcasts, especially on those long drives around the country! Caroline has put together her top five channels. Are you ready to be entertained?

Radiolab
One of my all-time favourites. Each episode is an hour long, discussing one topic through expert interviews. Be ready to get a bit smarter! Note: The episode are pretty timeless so I recommend diving into the archives for some binge listening.

Radiolab is a show about curiosity. Where sound illuminates ideas, and the boundaries blur between science, philosophy, and human experience.

Planet Money
Don’t be deceived by it title, it is not all about money. It actually tackles the world of economics in the broadest sense.

Imagine you could call up a friend and say, "Meet me at the bar and tell me what's going on with the economy." Now imagine that's actually a fun evening. That's what we're going for at Planet Money.

Note to Self
I bumped into this podcast through accidentally listening to the amazing episode with Marina Abramovic. And that episode by itself is worth mentioning so here you go, note to self.

Is your phone watching you? Can wexting make you smarter? Are your kids real? These and other essential quandaries for anyone trying to preserve their humanity in the digital age.

This American Life
Another WNYC classic, and although the title might be a bit off putting in light of recent events, it is a great window into America and life stories in general.

Themed, offbeat, (mostly) true stories that shed new light on the extraordinary side of everyday life.
