Awards

Awards are not a great predictor of commercial success (particularly in design). But when our team and clients have worked hard on a project to deliver it to market it is great to stop and reflect. Documenting a project can often illustrate just how far you’ve come.

We are always pleased to celebrate the success of those with work with and for. We generally enter awards we have supported and feel a part of.

Locus Research Managing Director Timothy Allan helped to institute the ‘Sustainable Product Design’ Award and was the inaugural judge in 2004.

We have had a number of projects feature in the Best Awards ranging from a surfboard travel system to an exterior cladding system to a hair conditioning system.

DuPont New Zealand and Australia Innovations Awards

Dupont Innovation Awards

In the Australasian context these awards are the heavyweight. They have been a part of the Australian Innovation Festival for some time. They are held bi-annually which intensifies the level of competition and the quality of entries.

The Ground breaking work done in the Circadian Sleep System was selected one of only 13 finalists across all categories and sat amongst some incredible R&D projects. The appeal of the DuPont awards is they recognise real research and development at a structural level and include in depth discussion of sustainability within the context of the awards.

Sustainable 60

Sustainable 60

The award was created by Fairfax media and Price Waterhouse Coopers in 2009 provided the perfect opportunity to recognise the wider areas of sustainability within a business.

Locus Research was the recipient of the Overall Exemplar for Small business. This recognised the work we have done in a range of business areas. To be eligible for the exemplar award we had to enter all five categories, the list below outlines the categories we entered and what projects we applied to each category.

  • Strategy and Governance - Our internal 'Evolve' project;
  • Workplace - Our Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme;
  • Marketplace - The innovative Transform initiatives for Textiles New Zealand;
  • Environment - Life Cycle Thinking Workshops;
  • Community - Our contribution to the formation of the Sustainable Design Group of New Zealand.

We were very pleased to receive the award as it recognised us not as a design company, but as a business. We work pretty hard on all facets of our business so it was a great privilege to be recognised along with other great companies such as Landcare Research, Urgent Couriers, NZ Merino amongst others.
