The Ag Research Textiles group (Food & Textiles Section) has been an integral part of our textile based R&D and product development projects. They have provided the critical textile and fibre science and testing to create structural points of difference over competitors.

This group has been responsible for a number of breakthrough innovations including the first commercialised electronic textile now part of the Peratech Group.

PE Australasia offers a wide range of custom-tailored services in areas ranging from Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), product and corporate Carbon Footprinting to Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Accounting, as well as the development of sustainability strategies. PE Australasia, is a subsidiary of PE International, the world’s leading Life Cycle Assessment and Sustainability group. Their consulting work is underpinned by their software solutions GaBi for LCA and Carbon footprinting and SoFi for Corporate Environmental Management. With offices in Wellington and Perth PE Australasia provide their services to the Australian and New Zealand market. Locus Research has worked extensively with Managing Director, Barbara Nebel and Principal Consultant Jake McLaren.

Priority One

Priority One's purpose is to build a vibrant economy that retains and attracts talented, skilled and creative people and the businesses that need them. Priority One is the economic development organisation covering Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty.  The organisation was established by the business community and is half funded by business membership, making it a unique structure for an economic development organisation in New Zealand.  It is also contracted to deliver economic outcomes by Tauranga City and Western Bay of Plenty District councils.

Priority One, through their InStep Programme, along with Locus Research and Woods Creative, lead sponsorship and organization of the Young Innovator Awards, recognising regional secondary school students and young professionals that use their problem solving skills to design a new or improve an existing product or service. Enterprise Angels

Enterprise Angels acts as a facilitator putting together businesses seeking investment with business investors looking to invest. One of Enterprise Angels key roles is investor education. Enterprise Angelsis a member of the Angel Association of New Zealand, a network of more than a dozen angel groups throughout the country. Education events, best practice procedures and industry statistics are provided by the AANZ and organisations like the Kaufmann Institute in the USA as well as by EA itself through its regular member meetings.

Enterprise Angels is governed by a board comprised of members, including Timothy Allan. Many of EA’s investor members are keen to add value to their investment by taking an active role in developing businesses they invest in.

Scion

Scion (Formerly the NZ Forest Research Institute) and Locus Research have had a long term relationship canvassing both stand alone research projects, applied research, product development, and commercialisation. Scion is a leader in the Biomaterials area, developing cutting edge technologies in Bio-Energy and Bio-Materials.

Scion has been a key collaborator in the life cycle thinking arena and the forestry sector. This collaboration has led to a greater engagement earlier in the science process to provide design and commercialisation input in larger science projects.

They are also neatly based at the foot of the best mountain biking in New Zealand; the Whakarewarewa forest, Rotorua.

Life Cycle Association New Zealand
LCANZ

The Life Cycle Association of New Zealand is the key body informing the development of Life Cycle Assessment and Management in New Zealand. The Life Cycle Association of New Zealand (LCANZ) was established in June 2009 to provide a focal point for Life Cycle Assessment and Management work conducted in New Zealand. It aims to promote networking and knowledge sharing between organisations and people. It will also promote and raise the awareness of Life Cycle Thinking amongst the wider public and business.

Locus Research is a founding member of LCANZ and whilst not actively involved in the administration continues to develop alongside LCANZ a comprehensive approach for the inclusion of Life Cycle Thinking in product development.

Centric Hosted Solutions

When Locus Research first started we worked in a small house at the mount with an electronics engineer and an electrical engineer come general logic chip. Glenn Laugesen has gone on to create an effective technology hosting platform that has enabled Locus to embrace the best in collaborative technology online.

Centric has provided effective hosted solutions incorporating Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Project Server on a number of projects. They are also experts in the structuring, organisation and retrieval of large CAD and Plant Data.

Designers Institute of New Zealand

DINZ is the voice of New Zealand design, and Locus Research has contributed in particular to the sustainable design component of DINZ. Locus has collaborated on the production of a sustainable design resource, a sustainable design guide and the life cycle thinking series.
