Flying High with Enterprise Angels

Locus Research has long been involved with the Enterprise Angels (EA), New Zealand's largest angel investment group. EA has funded multiple products developed by Locus and we helped redesign the EA brand a few years ago. Recently, Locus has partnered with the group as a corporate sponsor. This is a formal recognition of the goals that both organisations share, working tirelessly to bring new companies to market.

Locus' support for the Enterprise Angels runs from web design to print design and event coordination but our chief effort has been to develop an online investment platform for new and existing Angel Investors in New Zealand - think Kickstarter for serious investors. This extensive website development has been in the works for some time, and like much of the work we do, it helps to step away from the computer screen and get it up on the walls for collective review. We've also co-ordinated the introduction of a new capital event with Fieldays, another of our corporate partners. Fieldays has become a hot-bed of innovation and this is a natural pair with Locus and the Enterprise Angels. This new event will see entrants into Fieldays' Innovations Awards given access to the industry influencers and investment they need to get off the ground.

Meanwhile, Enterprise Angels has recently launched EA Fund 2 - consolidating funds from Angel Investors into an investment vehicle. This approach to angel investment allows investors to entrust their money to an experienced group of Angel Investors who collectively review and assess the opportunities available and invest in a diverse portfolio. Locus assisted with the launch of this fund by designing a printed Information Memorandum for potential investors. This document is an essential part of the investment process, providing potential investors with the information to make an informed decision about the angel investment sector, and the role the fund plays in that sector.

We have only been an official partner with the Enterprise Angels since late last year, however already the outcomes are something to be proud of. Watch this space over the coming months to see the launch of the investment platform and the Fieldays capital event.
