The magnitude of the poverty that cripples so many in our planet’s population is beyond comprehension and the fact that this cycle continues for individuals all because of a few hundred dollars has never made sense. Kiva’s proposal struck me as an incredibly simple and fun way to help out our fellow man. The site lets you browse entrepreneurs' profiles before choosing someone to lend to, then you follow their progress, receiving email journal updates as they pay off their loan. Once repaid, the money is returned to you to retrieve or do it all over again.

As a Locus team, we've decided to join Kiva in helping a real person make great strides towards economic independence, improving life for themselves, their family, and their community.
