The Young Innovators Award 2013 was launched to an early rising Tauranga audience as the sun rose over the bay. Teachers from the participating Western Bay of Plenty secondary schools and budding young professionals attended the breakfast meet at Zaggers 2 on The Strand.
Priority One's CEO Andrew Coker introduced the opening with a reminder of the programme vision and goals before Timothy Allan and Reuben Woods of major sponsors Locus Research and Woods Creative introduced the new brand, website and changes from the previous year.
The 2013 programme expands its scope to include a Young Professionals category, open to anyone under 40 living in the Western Bay area and with a grand prize of $2000. The other two categories are open to Junior and Senior students, year 9 & 10 or 11, 12 & 13 respectively. Junior and Senior supreme winners are awarded with $1000 each. There is also a people’s choice award, chosen at the awards event, and an internship may be awarded at the judge’s discretion.
