Designer Eats GreenMaking the shift from product design to sustainability consulting.

Considered one of the top environmental specialists in New Zealand, Jake McLaren is an expert in development and implementation of environmental management strategies, lifecycle assessment (LCA), and strategic eco-design in new product development. With a Masters degree in Design Management and Innovation from Brunel University in the UK, Jake began his career in furniture and industrial design before becoming an environmental specialist for mobile phone company Nokia. Moving to New Zealand he led Formway's exemplary sustainability programme during the development of the award-winning LIFE chair. He has also worked with other design-led New Zealand businesses including the New Zealand Merino Company, Icebreaker and Fisher and Paykel  Now a consultant at PE AUSTRALASIA, Jake offers strategic sustainability consulting to corporations. Jake will talk about his journey from design to sustainability and what inspired him to make the shift.
