This month, New Zealand will be welcoming leading US Angel Investor Bill Payne as part of the ABAF conference in Queenstown. Enterprise Angels has been lucky enough to secure Bill to host two workshops: one in Tauranga on Friday 30 October and the other in Hamilton on 2 November.
Bill Payne is arguably the most well-known Angel Investor in the USA - he's previously been referred to as the closest thing America has to an Entrepreneur Laureate. His angel investing history stretches back almost 30 years including being involved in setting up four of the most prominent angel organisations in the USA, and investing in over 70 start-up companies.

The full day workshops will be split into two halves, covering:
Morning session: What's a good deal? - Assessing investment opportunities (3 1/2 hours)
Extensive validation of deals by a team of interested investors is the biggest differentiator in determining return on investment. And, joining a due diligence team is a really great vehicle for learning the ins and outs of investing with the Enterprise Angels. Bill will demonstrate the process of evaluating deals with a panel of local experts, including Locus Research's Timothy Allan, and then lead the participants through break-out sessions in which small teams will get hands-on experience.
Lunch (included in both sessions): "A fireside chat" with Bill Payne taking questions from members
Afternoon session: What's the right price? - Valuation workshop (3 hours)
Investing at the right price gives angels a fighting chance to “buy low and sell high.” And, no single valuation method works well for all new companies. Bill will demonstrate 3-4 valuation methodologies and then divide the participants into several break-out groups to apply all methods to a single case study. The group will then compare notes on results.
Bill is a fountain of knowledge on anything Angel and is an engaging and interactive speaker. Both sessions are highly interactive. We guarantee you will come away a wiser Angel because of it!
