E.A.T BREAKFAST: DESIGN & CREATIVE THINKING

Category:

Hear the stories behind products and people from three sensational businesses.

Don’t miss out on the Bay of Connections E.A.T Breakfast: Design & Creative Thinking to hear from three inspirational speakers as they share their stories around design thinking, and how they developed world leading products and businesses. The speakers will talk through their design journeys and the things they have done to ensure their success across global markets through creative thinking.

Scott Kington, Co-founder at Madeblunt Ltd (Blunt umbrellas) has revolutionised a general consumer item by taking the basic design of an umbrella which hadn’t changed since 1928 and often didn’t stand the test of bad weather, by turning it into a world changing piece of innovation. Now selling into more than 1200 stores across 27 countries, Scott will talk through the story of the indispensable Blunt umbrella, as well as the wonderful opportunity to combine innovation and environment through better design, better products and better business cultures.

Timothy Allan, Managing Director at Locus Research believes in the power of research to explore, learn and design new things. Founded in 2002, the team at Locus Research have spent the past 13 years on a product development and innovation journey that has covered everything from sleep systems to haircare. Timothy will share his own experiences and will provide insight into how innovation has shifted in the last decade. He will also talk through how the results from over 10 years of research driven design has created success within his own company, as well as many export related industries.

Mark Major, Founder of Broken Back Games will share his recent success story within the gaming and technology world. Based on a back breaking fall he had in Beijing, Mark will talk us through how this life changing experience inspired him to design Plummet Free Fall – a world # 1 App that has gone viral. He will talk about how he designed a video game from scratch, even though he can't code or draw, all using crowd sourcing, outsourcing and crowd curation to quickly execute on this successful idea.
