Previously named one of the most influential technology people in New York as well as World Class New Zealander and Ernst Young, Young New Zealand Entrepreneur of the Year, Derek has founded a number of technology companies. These include global mobile marketing and media company, The Hyperfactory - the winner of many international awards and accolades - and NZAX-listed Snakk Media. 

His first book, ‘Heart to Start’, is a memoir of his entrepreneurial journey and includes a practical field-guide for shaping dreams and goals and turning them into reality, taking you inside the entrepreneurial mindset.  Derek recently donated two years of his life to Sir Richard Branson to help create The B Team - a global leadership collective on a mission to catalyse better ways of doing business for the wellbeing of people and our planet.  He is also a committed ‘astronaut-in-waiting’ with Virgin Galactic; an adjunct executive professor at AUT University; a board director at Sky Television; and a New Zealand Arts Foundation Trustee.
