Blythe is a leader in the design field with a string of varied capabilities and experiences, directing his focus on integrating applied research and sustainable design methodologies within the development of new products, services, and product service systems.

His experience in research and development work is targeted towards delivering new creative insights, greater market opportunities, and product/service leadership through effective application of design.

With his capabilities encompassing skills in many disciplines from consumer products, outdoor apparel and sporting equipment design, medical and healthcare, to furniture, interiors and textile design he brings a multifaceted approach to every project he puts his hand to.

Blythe has had experience in designing within a team environment and leading large-scale developmental projects for a number of high profile clients, many of these gaining notoriety through media coverage and both national and international awards.

As a lead designer for Locus Research he is highly experienced in directing research and development targeted at delivering new creative insights, and greater market opportunities, through effective application of design.

Blythe was the recipient of the New Zealand Merino Biella Masters Scholarship in 2009 for his design involvement with merino. He also led the implementation of the Transform Initiative for Textiles New Zealand and was the key liaison with the Foundation for Research Science and Technology.

Blythe’s origins in an agricultural family clarify his passion for the outdoors and committed work ethic.
