From a very early start in the mid-Canterbury rural town of Ashburton, Tracey discovered she had a natural flare for understanding business administration, accounting, business systems and processes.
Moving to Auckland on her own at the age 19, Tracey excelled and was quickly promoted to lead finance roles.
Having learnt most of her finance and accounting skills in a commercial environment, but with growing interest in all things business, Tracey elected to gain a Master’s Degree in Business that she completed in 2002.
These skills were augmented in subsequent years while working with venture capital investors in various businesses where Tracey developed her comprehensive financial management and financial modelling skills.
Tracey realised she most enjoyed working with and supporting innovative SMEs that often had very fluid and dynamic environments and very entrepreneurial leaders. She found herself particularly attracted to product development, manufacturing and technical organisations.
Tracey has worked with various New Zealand businesses ranging from $5m to $100m turnover, including Bendon Group, Scarbro Construction and Nexus Foams. More recently Tracey rounded out her experience working in the not-for-profit sector for a healthcare related NGO, Affinity Services.
It’s not all business and numbers for Tracey. In an effort to balance out the capitalistic nature of her day job, Tracey became a volunteer ambulance officer for St John in 2012. This also helped her become more involved in her local community in the East Auckland coastal settlement of Maraetai. In 2013 she upskilled from First Responder to EMT and then become the Station Manager shortly after.
These days she is taking a break from ambulance work while she makes time for her school aged family, while working out of Locus’s Maraetai office and travelling to our studio in Tauranga on a regular basis.
